Brenda Freedman, a first-generation American, and her spouse, Corey, will tell the story of her parents, Holocaust survivors, as well as the story of a family friend who helped liberate survivors.
Brenda’s mother, Frances Zoldan, was born in Poland and was the sole survivor of her family. Her father, Aron Zoldan, was from the former Czychslavkia, now called Ukraine, in the Carpathian Mountains. He survived with five siblings out of 11. Bob Swift served in the 71st infantry that liberated survivors held captive in the working camp her father was in.
Our volunteer guest speakers come to us from the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council.
In conjunction with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association's Americans and the Holocaust: A Traveling Exhibition for Libraries, the Kokomo Howard County Public Library has planned an accompanying event series to explore important themes related to the exhibition. This event is part of that series.
