Teens will create butterfly suncatchers in honor of the millions of children who lost their lives to the Holocaust. Teens only. Registration required. Register here or by calling any KHCPL location.
“The Butterfly” is a poem written by Pavel Friedmann in 1942 while imprisoned in the Terezin Concentration Camp during the Holocaust. This poem is featured in the book “I Never Saw Another Butterfly,” a collection of artwork, poetry, and writing by children imprisoned at Terezin. From this poem, the image of the butterfly has emerged as an unforgettable symbol of the Holocaust.
In conjunction with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association's Americans and the Holocaust: A Traveling Exhibition for Libraries, the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library has planned an accompanying event series to explore important themes related to the exhibition. This event is part of that series.
