Janis Thornton, author of the 1965 Palm Sunday Tornadoes in Indiana, will share with us firsthand stories from survivors of that tragic day.
Howard County experienced much tragedy on April 11, 1965. The small towns of Alto and Russiaville were flattened on what began as a beautiful, sunny day. The day ended in tragedy with many lives and property lost. Join us at the Russiaville Lions Club, 555 North Liberty, Russiaville, Indiana, as author Janis Thornton shares with us the stories of that day. After the destruction of the Russiaville Town Hall, the Lions Club building became the location for central operations during the rescue, recovery and rebuilding of the town. Attendees will be invited to share their memories and experiences of this tragic day!
