Brooke Komar, a board certified art therapist and licensed mental health counselor, will teach you to channel your emotions into the art making process.
This art therapy workshop combines literary works and art therapy techniques. Using pages from literature and art materials, participants will reflect on personal themes to promote mental wellness and personal boundaries.
Redact: (verb) to hide or remove parts of a text before publication or distribution. Blackout poetry is a method of composing poetry that creates a new poem by blacking out existing text in a book, letter, or technical writing material. Because it's an editing of someone else's words rather than a new creation, creating and sharing this type of poetry can be less vulnerable and easier to start for many people. We'll combine blackout poetry and art therapy methods in this workshop.
This program was paid for by a grant from the Community Foundation of Howard County.
